A tree inspection was requested on the Beech standing in the main garden, this was off the back of EJM carrying out other tree health survey works.
A pathogenic fungi Gannoderma resinaceum had been identified fruiting at the base of the tree. This fungus is attributed to a ‘white’ rot of the tree, and root decay can also occur. This increases the trees likelihood of windthrow and basal failure.
Due to the high sentimental value as well as a huge feature in the main garden EJM recommend to reduce the crown by up to 4m now and then over time the tree can be observed and look to reduce the crown again in around five years.
EJM completed the work to reduce the crown, and we are now monitoring the tree’s response.
